In the wake of Monday’s horrific deadly shooting at a private Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, a shooting that left three nine-year-old children and three adults dead, as well as the shooter (who, in our humble opinion, got off way too easily), White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre took to her podium to blame Republicans for their refusal to “do something.”
"The president calls on Congress to do something before another child is senselessly killed in another act of gun violence," @PressSec says at the top of the daily WH briefing after Tennessee shooting.

New York Times congressional correspondent Annie Karni decided to add a bit of additional context to Katie Rogers’ tweet:
Republicans are not only opposed to new limits but have put forth new proposals to protect the free flow of guns. https://t.co/pHRfbKIJw9

To protect the what now?
The what https://t.co/VKPi6sJcfX

The "free flow of guns." What? https://t.co/HjzAbVlDkx

What does "free flow of guns" mean?
— DontBackDown (@charlesmangus) March 28, 2023
Guns are just flowing free, @anniekarni
— Stephen L. Miller (@redsteeze) March 28, 2023
Yes, I had to call a plumber.

I’ll bet you did! All those guns, just flowing freely … bound to clog up the pipes.
Can you share this proposal with us?
— David Harsanyi (@davidharsanyi) March 28, 2023
"new proposals to protect the free flow of guns"
Can you give us some examples?
— THE Crapplefratz (Accept no substitutes) (@Crapplefratz) March 28, 2023
I’d actually very much like to see one of these proposals that would protect the free flow of guns, which is definitely something that actually happens and definitely isn’t something a gun control proponent would just make up in order to scare people.
I'd like to learn more. Which GOP proposals specifically should I look up that would protect the "free flow of guns"?

Is there a Free Flow of Guns Act being considered in the House and/or Senate? Because if so, it sounds pretty amazing. I finally got myself a gun back in 2016 — a delightful Sig Sauer .380 that I decided to call Layla — but I didn’t fish it out of a gun river or anything. I had to go to the shop and talk to the salesman for a while and fill out paperwork and wait for my background check to come back clear and then use several hundred dollars of my own money to buy it. If all this time, the guns have been flowing freely, then I’d like to know about it because I think Layla needs a few friends to keep her company.
Can I get some of these free guns?
— JWF (@JammieWF) March 28, 2023
Where can I get me some of those free guns honey?
— NavyTim (@ChiefNavyTim) March 28, 2023
Where exactly are the free-flowing guns, Annie? Asking for a friend.

Maybe this is what Annie’s referring to:
If you're concerned about the "free flow of guns" you should take it up with the man overseeing the worst border crisis in American history, President Joe Biden.
His failed/lacking policies protect the ability of cartels to continue the "free flow" of illegal guns into the U.S. https://t.co/XcE6Gb8TMJ
— Spencer Brown (@itsSpencerBrown) March 28, 2023
She’s not actually referring to that, because she’d have to admit that Joe Biden and the Democrats are responsible for that free flow of guns. And as a dedicated member of the New York Times’ Journamalism Team, she can’t do that.
The second thing. She’s gonna do the second thing.
