Every so often, the White House trots Joe Biden out to remind us all just how great we have it with him as our president.
The COVID pandemic is over (except for when it’s politically expedient for us to still be smack-dab in the middle of it). We’ve finally gotten that whole Afghanistan monkey off our back (except now the Taliban is in charge again and oppressing and raping and murdering people).
And, of course, inflation is down:
For the sixth month in a row, yearly inflation is down.
It might be rising in economies around the world, but it's coming down here. And gas prices, food, and more are following.
That adds up to a break for families and proof that my plan is working.

He keeps saying inflation is down and that prices are coming down, but reality seems to disprove it every time.

Like honestly, what even is this?
BIDEN: "As inflation is going down, take home pay for workers is going up." pic.twitter.com/QpM7H3XaSh

That’s literally the opposite of what’s happening, but other than that, Joe, right on.
The inflation index for meats, poultry, fish, and eggs increased 1 percent in December. The index for eggs rose 11.1 percent.

Food prices are still rising at a brisk pace. Grocery store prices were up 0.2 percent compared with November and 11.8 percent year-over-year. https://t.co/aQ6ltbcWrg

Inflation here is still very high, and this is on top of the inflation last year.
The prices for goods are now rising 6% on top of the 9% they rose last year.
This isn’t a win, it is not proof your plan is working.
It’s the exact opposite.

Anyone who has to pay for things understands that prices have continued to go up despite Biden’s insistence that they’re going down.
Gas up 40 cents a gallon.
Eggs – 12 large: $6.19
16 American cheese slices: $6.09
Bacon: $10.99
Loaf of bread: $5.29That is if you can find any of these things and the shelves aren't bare. #ThanksBiden

It’s actually a vile insult to our intelligence to tell us that, despite what we are experiencing firsthand and have been for some time, inflation is decreasing and real wages are increasing. And yes, that is ironic considering the state of the intelligence of the man who’s telling us not to believe our own lying eyes.

And if we know the Biden administration and Democrats, it’s only a matter of time until they pound their feet onto the gas pedal, anyway.
If the cost of essentials to stay alive keep going up and our institutions and political leaders keep claiming "inflation is cooling", then shouldn't we reconsider how we are calculating inflation?
— Craig Chamberlin (@CraigChamberlin) January 12, 2023
Or maybe we should just reconsider which party should be in charge. The Republican Party is a hot mess and a half, but they’re still not as bad as the Democratic Party on economic matters. Yes, it’s a low bar to clear, but at this point we pretty much have to just take what we can get. And we can still get better than what Joe Biden and the Democrats want to give us.
