Decency is off the ballot? Biden family is apparently shunning Hunter's out-of-wedlock daughter

Earlier, The Hill reported that, according to Chris Whipple’s forthcoming book, ““The Fight of His Life: Inside Joe Biden’s White House,” people close to the president claim that frustration over criticism for how he handled the Afghanistan withdrawal was so all-consuming, it actually kept Biden up at night.

Fortunately, there are some things that don’t keep Joe Biden up at night. Like his granddaughter, apparently. Hunter Biden’s child with Lunden Alexis Roberts isn’t even on the president’s Christmas card list. She definitely doesn’t have a stocking above the fireplace like the other grandkids do.

Know what else she doesn’t get? She doesn’t get to carry the Biden name, even though she is Hunter Biden’s daughter:

I hate to have to play this game, but … imagine if Donald Trump did something like this. Just flat-out refused to even acknowledge the existence of one of his grandkids. Wouldn’t even let him or her take the Trump name despite being the child of one of Donald Trump’s sons. You think there wouldn’t be endless write-ups and monologues about the cruelty and callousness of it all?

OK, maybe. I suppose it’s technically possible that The Daily Beast is writing about this because they’re trying to help lay the groundwork for the media to throw Biden under the bus (although the fact that The Daily Beast refers to Lunden Alexis Roberts as “Hunter Biden’s baby mama” in the headline doesn’t exactly make it sound like The Daily Beast is really that interested in making the Biden family look bad).

I’m maybe just speaking for myself here, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for a sudden wave of hostile media coverage of Biden just yet. He’s gotten away with so much over the years … why should that change? If he can do things like smear an innocent man as a drunk driver, a smear from which that innocent man never recovers, and never have to answer to it, why would media ever demand that he answer for shunning his young granddaughter, who is literally the only entirely innocent party here?

Pretty outrageous when even a grandchild is shunned. I didn't read it, but it sounds like if she doesn't benefit Biden in some way, he doesn't have a use for her. That's cold. I don't think I could ever do that.

Of course that’s nothing that any of us didn’t already know, but this story just makes them seem even more repulsive.

Which, if you think about it, could actually be something for Roberts and her daughter to consider going forward:
