Late last month, Florida Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Charlie Crist announced that he’d chosen Karla Hernández-Mats, head of the largest teachers’ union in the southeast region, as his running mate.
Charlie Crist, the Democratic nominee for Florida governor, chose the head of the largest teachers union in the Southeast as his running mate — Karla Hernández-Mats. She has said about Gov. Ron DeSantis's attacks on educators, "This is what dictators do." https://t.co/pr15ArMChZ

If I’m being totally honest, it might be unfair to call Charlie Crist a gubernatorial hopeful. Given all the terrible decisions he’s made since announcing his candidacy, the only thing of which he seems hopeful is losing. By a lot. I’ve seen some pretty lousy candidates in my time on this earth, but Crist is in a class of his own. He’s not only pouring gasoline all over his campaign, but he’s lighting the match. He’s using a damn flamethrower.
But back to Karla Hernández-Mats. As an advocate for school closures, Hernández is already a millstone around Crist’s neck. But on top of that, she’s also a communist apologist. She tried to hide that about herself, but not before GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis’ rapid response team grabbed it and put it in the spotlight:

Suggesting that many in Cuba mourned the death of Fidel Castro when Florida is home to countless Cuban refugees who literally risked their lives to flee their homeland in order to escape Castro is a bold strategy, to be sure. It’s no wonder Karla Hernández-Mats would want to memory-hole something like that. To bad for her she wasn’t successful.
Imagine someone who represents the Miami community tweeting positive words for Fidel Castro, the tyrant who was universally despised among these constituents.

That's a disqualifying tweet in most states, but in Florida she should withdraw from the election.

Well, withdrawing is probably not necessary, seeing as she’s Charlie Crist’s running mate. She doesn’t have a prayer anyway.
But still. Inquiring minds want a comment.
Yo, @KarlaforFlorida, any comment ? @CharlieCrist https://t.co/pcyGsdfsCx
