Well, if this doesn’t just leave you absolutely gutted and weeping, we don’t know what will.
At the end of March, we learned the devastating news that CNN+ employees were already bracing for layoffs as early as May. Apparently the promise of extra CNN content that comes with a price tag just wasn’t exciting potential viewers the way the network had hoped it would.
You should probably sit down for this: evidently, the situation has only gotten more dire in recent weeks.
Dramatic cuts are expected for CNN+ in response to the subscription service's low adoption rate, two sources tell Axios. https://t.co/hEWxH6V0Lt

You hate to see it. Boy, do you hate to see it.

Lol…how did CNN+ get their projections so wrong??????? https://t.co/ZhuPWHIFLM pic.twitter.com/eJ9G88F5Gz

Better question: How did CNN+ ever think their gamble could work out any other possible way? Failure was inevitable. It was baked into the CNN+ pie. No one — and we mean no one — should be surprised by any of this. OK, maybe Brian Stelter is surprised.
I am really, really not saying this to be snarky: I honestly wonder who thought CNN+ was a good idea that people wanted? I assume they did market research but it seems like they just fundamentally don't understand who watches CNN, in what settings, and why. https://t.co/lr1F3pzq1Q

It’s OK to be snarky! Be as snarky as you like! Sometimes snark is warranted. And when it comes to CNN, it’s always warranted.
Honestly, at this point, it doesn’t even really matter whose brilliant idea this was. We’re just glad that someone had the idea, because it has provided us with countless hours of endless entertainment. And Lord knows we can use as many laughs as we can get these days.

Perfect. Just beautiful.
I am shocked that no one is willing to pay to watch the network that they didn't even want to watch for free.

Tough break, CNN.
Maybe journos get a discount and don’t actually have to pay for the service at all. Wouldn’t that be just … *chef’s kiss*?
