Hey, so remember that time Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar “unequivocally” apologized for her anti-Semitic remarks suggesting that AIPAC and Israel were using their money to control the GOP? Apparently Omar has already forgotten, because she’s back on the Twitter’s endorsing more thinly veiled anti-Semitic garbage:
.@AdyBarkan your courage can’t be matched. I am often in tears thinking about how you won’t be with us in this fight and how I am going to miss your presence and courage. In solidarity my friend, in solidarity ✊? https://t.co/wt5YAHA2rR
— Ilhan Omar (@IlhanMN) February 11, 2019
Yeah, let’s see what exactly Omar’s standing in solidarity with, shall we?
A thread on @IlhanMN, anti-semitism, and my personal experience with @AIPAC’s money.
In 2006, I was the first real staffer on a long-shot Democratic Congressional race in deep red Ohio. My boss was a hippie doctor with a lefty perspective on international affairs… (Continued)
— Ady Barkan?? (@AdyBarkan) February 11, 2019
…very skeptical of military force, opposed to the Israeli occupation of Palestine, etc.
A month after winning the Dem primary, we were struggling to gain attention or money. Nobody gave us a snowball’s chance to win. But one political action org proactively reached out to us.
— Ady Barkan?? (@AdyBarkan) February 11, 2019
It wasn’t Emily’s List, although we were fiercely prochoice. Wasn’t a doctor’s lobby or an enviro or labor org. It was AIPAC.
A local Dem volunteer leader of the Cincinnati AIPAC group came over and said they would like to donate the PAC max (I believe $5000) and would also…
— Ady Barkan?? (@AdyBarkan) February 11, 2019
…like to see Vic take a public stance on two issues that, I thought, were relatively obscure: an Iran sanctions bill and something else I can’t recall, perhaps about continuing arms sales to Israel. Suffice to say, these were not hot button issues in the race.
— Ady Barkan?? (@AdyBarkan) February 11, 2019
Vic and I both thought of ourselves as pro-peace, not pro-Israel. (Note: I am an Israeli citizen, have many family there, have lived there & visited perhaps 20 times). We both felt a bit icky about doing it, because it was too hawkish and too quid pro quo…
— Ady Barkan?? (@AdyBarkan) February 11, 2019
but we were desperate for cash and so we put online a statement about how Vic supported a two-state peace agreement and AIPAC’s two pet issues of the cycle.
It was definitely about the Benjamins. Never would have done it otherwise. AIPAC’s power is also about great organizing..
— Ady Barkan?? (@AdyBarkan) February 11, 2019
…(they sent a local Dem volunteer emissary) and about diligence (they paid attention to us before anyone else and were happy to donate to both us and the pro-Likud incumbent). But money is the lubricant that makes the whole machine run. @IlhanMN is right to point this out.
— Ady Barkan?? (@AdyBarkan) February 11, 2019
AIPAC is a central pillar of the occupation. Without Congressional support, the Likud/anti-Palestine/pro-occupation project would be radically undermined. AIPAC is the anchor of that support, and its money and Sheldon Adelson’s money are indispensable to the work.
— Ady Barkan?? (@AdyBarkan) February 11, 2019
We have a growing anti-semitism problem in America. @IlhanMN is not part of it. @lindasrsour is not part of it. They are allies of mine and of Jews across this country who are fighting for peace, racial justice, immigrants’ rights, and the defeat of fascism.
— Ady Barkan?? (@AdyBarkan) February 11, 2019
I am deeply disappointed in @SpeakerPelosi for her failure today.
When AIPAC and its army try to silence criticism of the immoral, illegal, inhumane occupation by screaming about anti-semitism and claiming that nobody may ever talk about how the Israel lobby…
— Ady Barkan?? (@AdyBarkan) February 11, 2019
…uses money to build power, don’t fall for their bullshit. They are doing terrible things in the name of Jews and of Israel, and it behooves the American Jewish community to resist them, resist their agenda, stand up for Free Speech, and stand up for justice.
— Ady Barkan?? (@AdyBarkan) February 11, 2019
That was something, wasn’t it?
You really don’t know when to stop do?
— Neil Trahan (@NeilTrahan2) February 11, 2019
Rep. Omar, you literally can't help yourself
— David Solovy (@dsolovy) February 11, 2019
Nope. She literally can’t.
First of all, what’s with this $5000 business?
You guys see this thread? All it takes is $5000 to buy a politician. I assumed you needed big money to do that. This changes everything! https://t.co/cc9nnRY9QV
— Frank J. Fleming (@IMAO_) February 11, 2019
Imagine admitting that you sold out all of your principles for a supposed $5000. https://t.co/irPclm5zP8
— Jerry Dunleavy (@JerryDunleavy) February 11, 2019
Allow us to assume this thread on how a candidate sold themselves out to AIPAC for $5,000 is completely accurate.
Wouldn't a politician willing to sell themselves for a few bucks be a bigger problem? https://t.co/qcabDYwDrE
— Drew McCoy (@_Drew_McCoy_) February 11, 2019
*Sorry, looks like it was 2006, where Wells Wulsin raised more than $1 million to her opponents $1.9 million. That makes it .5% not .2%.
STILL HILARIOUS.
— Emily Zanotti (@emzanotti) February 11, 2019
For this story to be true, either someone sold out the "core principles" of their own campaign for a check totaling less than .5% of their total fundraising take, or AIPAC has a hell of a convincing Ohio guy.
Also, it does not appear AIPAC gave directly to any candidates in 2006 https://t.co/naFIW37KdY
— Emily Zanotti (@emzanotti) February 11, 2019
AIPAC has NEVER offered money (they have no PAC) for supporting legislation. All they do is meet with candidates and ask them to write a position paper outlining their thoughts on the US-Israel relationship.
It is possible another pro-Israel group did this, but not AIPAC. https://t.co/HOE4BxlAxL
— Nathan, son of Robert (@NathanWurtzel) February 11, 2019
Found it.
National PAC seems like the most likely group. $5000 in October.
As for the admission they traded money for a political position…I don't do that. Sad to see some do. https://t.co/HOE4BxlAxL
— Nathan, son of Robert (@NathanWurtzel) February 11, 2019
And second of all, how dumb does Omar think we are? Does she think we don’t see that she’s only further confirming her anti-Semitism?
So much for your apology for your anti-Semitism.
— Marilyn Reed (@reedmom54) February 11, 2019
If you read the garbage thread that @IlhanMN is quote tweeting, it shows — and please prepare yourself for this revelation because it just might shock you — that the Congresswoman might not be “unequivocally apologetic” about her anti-Semitic remarks after all. https://t.co/i5uDZJ17Wy
— Jerry Dunleavy (@JerryDunleavy) February 11, 2019
This is from the thread Ilhan Omar just retweeted. So was your earlier apology a lie or did you just not read the garbage you're spewing out? Are you "grateful" that people are "educating" you, or were those just words to get the (((media))) off your back? https://t.co/y0aHbThyfj
— Tiana Lowe (@TianaTheFirst) February 11, 2019
We’re gonna go out on a limb and say that it’s the latter.
Let me make this simple: Ilhan Omar is an antisemite. She has proven it repeatedly. Her apologies are bogus and insincere.
You have to be willfully ignorant or intentionally dishonest to not recognize at this point.

Update:
It took 30 secs to see that in his story about this 2006 campaign supposedly selling out to AIPAC for $5000, his candidate raised $1,029,796.74 in contributions that cycle.
