The stupid.
It hurts.
You may be wondering what stupid and why I hurt ... I sat through the clip of former Vice President Kamala Harris trying to explain why chatting with 8-year-olds is one of life's great joys, and the performance was something else. Oh, did I mention she did this at New Hampshire reproductive rights fireside chat?
Yes,
Basically a pro-abortion rally.
Talking about the importance of talking to children.
I've got nothin'.
Watch:
Kamala attempts to articulate the value of talking to children. It doesn't go well: "I mean, if you have the chance in whatever your, you know, your circle of life to just, you know, talk to like an eight year old, that's one of the best things, you know, someone who just has that twinkle." "It hasn't been, you know, they haven't they they have the twinkle. They believe in, in all. And they're curious and - Oh, that gives me joy just because, you know, there is something I think about, looking at children to remind us of our natural nature, who we actually it is our nature, our - There is something about that." This was said at a 'reproductive rights' event. The irony here is next level. She somehow keeps managing to get worse at this.

We're being punked, right?
She keeps inventing new ways to say absolutely nothing while sounding deeply moved by her own thoughts.
The "twinkle" fixation is the part that sticks. Eight-year-olds have the twinkle. They believe in all. It gives her joy. Fine. Except this monologue dropped at an event dedicated to reproductive rights. The irony is not subtle.
Kamala keeps managing to get worse at this. The more she tries to sound profound about kids, curiosity, and our inherent nature, the more the setting undercuts every word. She believes this kind of rambling inspires people. The clip makes it clear the audience is mostly just waiting for her to land the plane. She never does.
The circular phrasing, the repeated "you know," the unfinished thoughts about children reminding us of who we are — all of it lands with a thud precisely because of where she chose to say it. Reproductive rights events are not typically the venue for waxing poetic about the joy of 8-year-olds with twinkles in their eyes.
The performance is pure Kamala. She starts with a simple idea, immediately complicates it beyond recognition, then tries to rescue it with vague appeals to joy and nature. By the end, nobody is sure what the point was, including her.
The irony remains next level.
