I had to watch Elissa Slotkin’s latest performance twice just to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating the sheer audacity.
There she is, standing in front of the American and Michigan flags, solemnly informing the rest of us that fear is the point and intimidation is the point — because the President had the nerve to say she ought to face consequences for her own words.
The irony is so thick I nearly choked on it.

This is the same woman who stood at the University of Chicago and laid out her plan in detail. She didn’t just want “accountability” for Trump officials. She explicitly said she wanted “signature cases” against the people around him so that young conservatives thinking about government jobs would stop and say, “Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I don’t want.”
She wanted the deterrence message.
She wanted the fear.
She wanted subordination.
She wanted our SILENCE.
She said it out loud, on camera, with a straight face, like it was a noble act of civic hygiene instead of open lawfare.
Now that the pushback has arrived, Slotkin has suddenly discovered that weaponizing the justice system is a terrible thing — when it’s aimed at her. The former national security official who once fretted about illegal orders is shocked, shocked that anyone might take her own threats seriously. She wants us to believe that talking about prosecuting political opponents to scare their future staffers is just “standing up for the rule of law,” but suggesting she should answer for that talk is authoritarian intimidation. Spare me. This is the playbook, and she knows it. Create the threat, watch people flinch, then cry victim when someone notices.
The fact that she’s a sitting Senator only makes the hypocrisy more glaring. If fear and intimidation are the point, Elissa, maybe stop building the case for both and then pretending you didn’t.
