Scott Bessent went on CNBC, got asked if America is in a cute little tit-for-tat with Canada, and shrugged the entire question and even the premise off.
And we hardly blame him.
Treasury’s answer was math, not manners: you don’t “trade war” a country thirteen times your size. What else is Mark Carney going to tell the cameras, that the neighbor with the bigger economy just turned the screws and the talking points still need work?
