In a plot twist that has many a political observer (and Twitchy editor) doing a double-take, an obscure polling operation that suddenly surfaced with eye-popping numbers showing progressive Wisconsin state Rep. Francesca Hong dominating Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley by more than 20 points in the Democratic gubernatorial primary has now vanished just as quickly, admitting its entire body of work was fabricated as a deliberate “social experiment” to test how easily unverified survey data can infiltrate media coverage and campaign narratives.
It went POOF.
What the hell?
So this is pretty wild: A polling firm that came out of nowhere to show Francesca Hong with a 23-point lead over David Crowley in the Wisconsin primary has shut down and said its whole operation was bogus pic.twitter.com/QTmlXkvGPC

Pretty wild is putting it nicely.
Sounds like it wasn't just Francesca Hong, either.
h/t this, which found Median Strategies also released a bogus poll in the LA mayor race https://t.co/qD01s6IZ0s

Wild AND weird.
Methinks the social experiment was "Can we manipulate the voter base with bogus polls. We cannot."
— DangerZone (@HighwayToTheDZ) August 18, 2026
Except they KINDA did in California.
"A short term social experiment" also known as fraud.
— Orion (@winesmithing) August 18, 2026
BUH BUH BUH BINGO.
Sure seems like fraud...The statement itself establishes intentional misrepresentation of material fact and intent for others to rely on it. Voters deprived of the right to make informed choices, campaigns deprived of votes and contributions that flow to perceived winners.…

Something stinks.
Hmmmm I wonder who was behind the mystery polling scam? pic.twitter.com/mR9cr0yVrO

Oooh oooh, we know!
“Wild” doesn’t do this justice.
— Howard Sklar (@HowardMSklar) August 18, 2026
“Wildly problematic,” maybe.
Purposefully injecting false information during an election? If there were a crime called Subversion of Democracy, they’d be in jail.
That's another way of looking at it.
