The Electoral College was one of the most brilliant ideas from our founding fathers who understand the importance of protecting the minority in their newly formed country. They had just witnessed what happens under a 'single party rule' so they put in a fail-safe for us to make sure it didn't happen again. They understood the danger of a true democracy ... Washington also warned against the creation of two parties but that's another article.
And thank God for the Electoral College because it keeps insane maniacs in CA and NY from always picking the president; every state has a voice in our presidential election and that's the way it should be.
You'd think even the dumbest among us would know this but ... maybe not.
