Ok, if you have been following me for any length of time you know way back in 2015 and even 2016, I was very much #NeverTrump. Unlike many others in that group, I accepted he won and decided to start calling balls and strikes for 45. As I have said before, I was more than pleasantly surprised by his first three years of policies and actions and even voted for him in 2020.
And while I have not gotten on any sort of bandwagon or 'train' this primary season, I have known I will vote for whoever takes the nod because quite frankly, I am not sure our country can take another four years of Biden. Sadly, there are still people who cannot accept Trump, and while part of me understands, another part of me would crawl over broken glass to vote for Trump if that meant no more Biden.
One of the biggest complaints I'm seeing about Trump and his supporters is one I've seen for years and years, and that's people shaming evangelicals for supporting him because of his divorces, adultery, etc. etc. This thread from one of my favorite Tweeters, Physics Geek, I think explains why they support Trump in a very thoughtful and accurate way. So you know the haters will HATE IT.
Take a look:
2016's support of Trump by evangelicals was driven (rightly IMO) by fear of Hillary presidency. His SCOTUS nominees overturne the abominable Roe v. Wade. Whatever Trump's issues are, and they are legion, the reality that most evangelicals see is that unlike

Hard to debate the fact he appointed really good SCOTUS justices and HEY, I bet all of them can define a woman.

Keep going.
all of the GOPers who said LIFE! he was the first president whose time in office had an impact that they could see.

There are other factors which I won't go into, but the reality is that if you don't understand why Trump enjoys strong evangelical support,
Trump really was the first president to come in and do something about Roe, even if by default. We've heard so many Republicans over the year tell us how important life is and yet ... what did they really do?
you really don't understand human nature. Oh sure, a smattering of them see him as a golden idol, but the support from most is, in their minds, pragmatic and responsible due to visible results from his presidency.

Yeah, the golden idol stuff is creepy AF.
Don't do that.
Think back over all of the strong GOP campaign promises that magically evaporated in office and you will better understand how and why Trump garner such support. Or you can simply let your loathing of the man color your version of reality. Your call.

See what I mean?
Nailed it.
