D'OH! Sure, Fox News made a mistake with Aretha Franklin's pic but Chelsea Handler REALLY screwed the pooch

We admit it, Fox News REALLY screwed up when they showed a photo of Patti LaBelle in the background of their Aretha Franklin image in her memory. Truth be told, it was probably some intern or millennial who had no idea who Aretha really was but still, inexcusable.

That being said, Chelsea Handler’s reaction to the mishap is just gross.

Fox News honored Aretha Franklin by using a graphic that contained a photo of Patti LaBelle. It’s probably hard for anyone who works at Fox News to tell black people apart because they’ve never worked with any.

C’mon Chelsea, really.

This is just weak.

And psst, Fox News did release a statement and apologize:

Fox News ran a graphic that paired a close-up image of Franklin with one of a woman performing in the background. Unfortunately, the secondary image was of LaBelle singing, and many across social media called out the network on its apparent mix-up.

“We sincerely apologize to Aretha Franklin’s family and friends,” Jessica Santostefano, a Fox News vice president, said in a statement. “Our intention was to honor the icon using a secondary image of her performing with Patti LaBelle in the full-screen graphic, but the image of Ms. Franklin was obscured in that process, which we deeply regret.”

But Chelsea saw an opportunity to dunk on them … let’s face it, all she can really capitalize on these days is the low hanging fruit.
