Would appear Senator Chris Murphy felt the need to explain how the First Amendment works.
Stop laughing.
Ok, laugh a little, this is pretty damn funny.
Private companies deciding not to let their platforms be used to spread hate and lies is not the same as government censorship. If it feels the same, then we need to ask why a small handful of companies have so much control over the content Americans see.

Huh, this sounds a lot different from his other tweet …
Infowars is the tip of a giant iceberg of hate and lies that uses sites like Facebook and YouTube to tear our nation apart. These companies must do more than take down one website. The survival of our democracy depends on it.
— Chris Murphy (@ChrisMurphyCT) August 6, 2018
Maybe he doesn’t understand but as an elected official, his calling for these companies to shut down certain voices kinda sorta IS a violation of the First Amendment.
Or maybe he’s just a buffoon.
*shrug*
Then why are you demanding they ban speech, Senator? Or did you forget your tweet from yesterday? https://t.co/EjrYVkcMu0

YEAH, Senator.
"Private companies can do what they want. That's not censorship. Also, they should ban speech I don't like for democracy." – A United States Senator pic.twitter.com/HhAHPtgPsM

And you guys thought 2017 was stupid.

Ha! Don’t give him any ideas.
When a handful of companies, who act as the propaganda wing of the Democratic Party, decide what constitutes “hate” and “lies”, then we have a real problem.
The control of information is the greatest political weapon of all, and you want to decide who wields it? https://t.co/RRNpxnqQ2e

Sorry, there are a lot of big words in this tweet, unless you can use pictures and crayons we’re pretty sure Chris won’t understand.
Yes. You should ask why. You should also ask why they only silence the Conservatives/R's, while spreading the Orwellian Doublespeak of the Left!

Orwell warned us.
Hi, Mr. Fascist.

The DNC needs to crack down on the lies and hate being spread on their platform.

We can’t even blame Common Core. Heh.
We know it's not the same. The fact is they are the dominant platforms on which public discourse is taking place in America today, and you encouraged them to practice political censorship. Nice try walking it back, though.

How about a private company deciding not to promote viewpoints that conflict with the owners’ religious beliefs? Asking for a friend. #DoubleStandard

Knock it off with the facts, man!
You’ll only confuse Chris.
