On the heels of his team puking all over their shoes in an embarrassing 115-83 loss at the hands of the hosting Miami Heat, Indiana Pacers president of basketball operations Larry Bird had this to say:
“I can’t believe my team went soft,” Bird told Mike Wells of the Indianapolis Star over the phone. “S-O-F-T. I’m disappointed. I never thought it would happen.”
Bird’s comments are sure to motivate the team, but it might be too late. The Pacers are in a 3-2 hole and Danny Granger’s status for Game 6 remains uncertain after spraining his ankle.
Larry Bird call his team "SOFT" nastiest 4 letter word you can call an athlete!

Larry Bird had the cred to call Pacers S-O-F-T and, in his day, chops to do s/thing about it (remember Dr. J bout?). Never needed…

If Larry Bird called his team soft, he knew exactly what he was doing. He wouldn't say it if he didn't know what effect it would have.

I'm surprised Larry Bird called us soft, but he is exactly right. We played scared. The only guy who didn't seem scared was Psycho T!
