Another day, another day learning more about how the Teacher's Union takes money from the teachers in the trenches and pays themselves big salaries while they launder money to the Democrat Party. Such a scam.
🚨 @DefendingEd has released two new reports exposing how teachers' unions have funneled more than $1 BILLION into political causes over the past decade.https://t.co/TvaMAExdrG pic.twitter.com/gJuJq1cOds

When I first started teaching back in 1997, I was making just $27,000 a year. I needed every single cent of that paycheck and even worked after-school care to make ends meet.
I was told I had to join the union. If a parent or student ever made a charge against me, I’d have no protection without it. On that salary, I certainly couldn’t afford a lawyer, so I handed over another $50 a month for “protection.” It always felt a little like the mafia: “That’s a mighty fine career you’ve got there… would be a shame if something happened to it.”
After a few years, I decided to take my chances and stopped paying the union dues. The older teachers tsk-tsked and warned me I was setting myself up for disaster. Thankfully, I eventually left teaching and never needed that legal protection. But I completely understand why so many teachers join the union anyway.
I was lucky — I lived in a right-to-work state where they couldn’t force me to pay. Not every teacher has that choice.
Since August 2015, the two largest teachers unions, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the National Education Association (NEA), have given out a combined $669,324,912.33 in member dues/fees and Political Action Committee (PAC) funds to leftwing political entities, far-left nonprofits, school board campaigns, and opponents to school choice legislation.
This report tracks the expenditures and contributions of the AFT and NEA through federal reporting documents and Federal Elections Campaign (FEC) filings. This data reflects how the AFT and NEA utilize these funds to influence political and social outcomes both nationally and locally. While it is clear in some cases which organizations or campaigns receive funding, in other cases it is less clear as other PACs and nonprofits can act as passthroughs to benefit campaigns, advance ballot initiatives, oppose school choice legislation, or promote far-left social justice ideologies.
Every effort has been made to ensure that dollars are not duplicated in the data collection process. The information and numbers that are included in this report will be updated over time.
Look, I know many of the Union paying teachers are Democrats and have no qualms with their money going to support them. For the ones who aren't Democrats, however, they get no representation from their Union. That's not fair.
At the state and local level, teachers' union dues are flowing into ballot initiatives, political organizing, and activist networks, pushing the total to over $1 billion.https://t.co/YYN2ASWuxX

I have been saying it for two decades! Teachers unions exist for the sole purpose to laundering money to elect or reelect democrat candidates and to support their causes

Public sector Unions are a farce and they should be outlawed.
If you’re surprised that the wannabe Trump assassin is a teacher, you haven’t been paying attention. https://t.co/IUsaxtnmKa

Homeschool your kids whenever you can — and fight for full school choice so every family has real options.
Editor's Note: President Trump is fighting to ensure America's kids get the education they deserve.
