The Right believes in school choice and not chaining a child to their public school based on their zip code. In other words, not imprisoning them in failing schools. The fact of the matter is, schools are becoming literal prisons and Corey DeAngelis laid out all the facts today.
Michael Malice is right when he says, "Public schools are literal prisons for children and the only time many people will ever encounter physical violence in their lives." pic.twitter.com/cttbym8RFQ

Between 2020 and 2024, law enforcement agencies reported nearly 1.3 million criminal incidents occurring on school property across the United States.https://t.co/jvo6XY84xJ

This staggering figure includes about 540,000 assaults and 45,000 sex offenses – crimes that directly victimize children in places that are supposed to be safe havens for learning.https://t.co/jvo6XY84xJ

Young people are literally having their first experiences with crime and criminals at school. That's terrifying.
Kids shouldn’t be trapped in dangerous schools. Every day, children are exposed to violence, abuse and chaos in these government-run institutions.

Assaults make up the bulk of these crimes, turning hallways and classrooms into battlegrounds. https://t.co/jvo6XY84xJ
No matter how much parents try to protect their children and keep their homes free from violence and chaos, children are sent to school and exposed to awful behaviors.
My peer-reviewed analysis of the literature, published in Educational Review, found that private and charter schools are consistently safer than traditional public schools.

Competition forces schools to prioritize safety to attract and retain families.https://t.co/jvo6XY84xJ
Obviously, alternatives like homeschool, charter schools and private schools are safer options which is why school choice is so vital.
The failures of public schools go beyond violence. The latest data from 2024 shows that not a single child was proficient in math in 80 Illinois public schools. Zero. These failures are all symptoms of a broken system.https://t.co/jvo6XY84xJ

Kids are trapped in these violent institutions with no escape hatch, especially in states where teachers unions run the show and block school choice at every turn.

Unions prioritize adult jobs over child safety and success.https://t.co/jvo6XY84xJ
The sexual abuse epidemic in public schools is particularly horrifying. A 2004 Department of Education report estimated that about one in 10 children will experience educator sexual misconduct by the time they graduate from high school.https://t.co/jvo6XY7wIb

This is horrifying.
At my middle school it would be highly unusual if there wasn't a dramatic fight in the halls every week.

I went to an academic high school where you had to test to get in (among other metrics), and the number went down to zero.
I agree. True for my own experience. Homeschooling now

If people stopped using the euphemism bullying and called it assault which is what it is the true government school experience would be hard to defend.

This is why it's so vital the Left does not own the language. We must call behaviors what they truly are. These same assaults would result in prison if done outside school walls. These students deserve to be punished more harshly and should not be allowed to return to school.
