Somebody fetch Elijah Cummings’ antacids.
Congressman Darrell Issa took to social media to document the DOJ’s refusal to cooperate with the investigation into the IRS targeting groups based on partisan politics.
The most transparent administration in history is directing its people not to answer questions relevant to the investigation because … you know… there’s not even a smidgen of corruption.
Today I issued a subpoena to the #DOJ for documents previously requested by the Committee on April 23, 2014. http://t.co/j3nPOqe3iC

The #DOJ subpoena covers docs referring or relating to applications for 501(c)(4) tax-exempt status. #IRStargeting http://t.co/j3nPOqe3iC
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 20, 2014
The subpoena also covers #DOJ docs and communications between Lois G. Lerner and employees of the DOJ. #IRStargeting
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 20, 2014
Plus docs and communications referring or relating to the potential prosecution of tax-exempt applicants for statements made on #IRS forms.
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 20, 2014
The letter sent to the #DOJ on April 23 requested that these documents be produced by May 5, 2014. #IRStargeting

Recommended
As of today, the #DOJ has produced no documents in response to this request. #IRStargeting

The #DOJ has also obstructed @GOPoversight work during its transcribed interview of Richard Pilger, Director of DOJ Election Crimes Branch.
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 20, 2014
During the interview with Mr. Pilger, a #DOJ lawyer directed him not to answer questions posed by @GOPoversight an astounding 34 times.
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 20, 2014
Because when there’s not a smidgen of corruption, the normal thing to do is refuse to answer 34 times. THIRTY. FOUR. TIMES.
Among other topics, the #DOJ lawyer refused to allow Mr. Pilger to answer Q's about convos within DOJ in the wake of Citizens United v. FEC.
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 20, 2014
Also refused to allow Mr. Pilger to answer whether he had communicated with any #IRS official since Lois Lerner's apology for #IRStargeting.
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 20, 2014
These matters are highly relevant to the @GOPoversight investigation of #IRStargeting.
— Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) May 20, 2014
#DOJ refusal to allow Mr. Pilger to provide this info unduly impedes @GOPoversight obligations.

@DarrellIssa Why wont they answer? What'd they have to hide? Don't stop till you get answers! A bunch of criminals! Prosecute all of them!

Not a smidgen.
Editor’s note: In the original second paragraph of this post Congressman Issa’s first name was mispelled as “Darryl” rather than Darrell.
