Bobby Jindal: Let's end the Left's 'hogwash' birth control arguments by making it available OTC

The Left’s absurd and phony War on Women meme became a dominant theme during the 2012 campaign season. Lady parts screecher Sandra Fluke achieved femme-a-gogue martyrdom and President Obama was elevated to “lord and savior” of $18,000 birth control as Lena Dunham urged young women to vote their way into his harem.

How do you defang the howling War on Women wolves and avoid another campaign riddled with floppy vagina costumes? Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal proposes we obliterate one of their favorite attacks — that the GOP is anti-birth control — by making hormonal contraceptives available to adults without a prescription.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, known for supporting progressive policies, recently endorsed the over-the-counter sale of oral contraceptives. But in a Wall Street Journal op-ed, Jindal expands on his conservative case for big government getting out of the way of over-the-counter birth control sales.

As an unapologetic pro-life Republican, I also believe that every adult (18 years old and over) who wants contraception should be able to purchase it. But anyone who has a religious objection to contraception should not be forced by government health-care edicts to purchase it for others.

It’s time to put purchasing power back in the hands of consumers—not employers, not pharmaceutical companies, and not bureaucrats in Washington. The great thing about America is that power doesn’t come from government, but from people. It’s time to reclaim that power. It’s time to stop government from dividing people or insulting deeply held religious beliefs, and return the country to the path that has always made it great—one where Americans respect and value their fellow citizens, no matter their creed.

Naturally, lapdog Chuck Todd took the opportunity to snicker at Jindal’s “chastising” of “DC GOPers.”

Snicker all you want, lapdog Chuck. Jindal’s op-ed is making the rounds and has the right side of the Twitterverse buzzing. While conservatives are divided on Jindal’s proposal, it’s not just socially liberal conservatives who like the idea.

Others have concerns about his suggestion.

Shockah! Left-wing feminists who make careers out of clamoring for expanded birth control access aren’t into Jindal’s plan. They like having Big Daddy Government involved in their “reproductive health” decisions.

And they’re just getting started. Agree or disagree, Jindal’s op-ed exposes femme-a-gogue hypocrisy once again.
