Sen. Jim Banks Gives Credit to Trade Policies

"During Biden's last 2 yrs, we lost 230,000 manufacturing jobs," Sen. Jim Banks (R-Indiana) tweets. "Thanks to @POTUS's America First trade policies, there's a resurgence in manufacturing jobs––nowhere more than in states like IN. We are rebuilding the Made in America economy with these long-term, sustainable jobs."

Manufacturing is so essential. There comes a problem when the manufacturing of goods requires manufacturing the opportunity to work. Every U.S. citizen has the right to work, and that should not be denied or disparaged by an economy that does not afford enough opportunity to work. Policies that benefit other nations to the detriment of the U.S. can limit the availability of jobs here. They can also limit the ability of workers to move in an upwardly mobile way inside the economy. So if we want to have long-term, sustainable jobs in an economy, then we must do no harm to ourselves through the policies that cause such jobs to go elsewhere and hinder opportunity here at home. We must flee those while embracing policies that put the American worker first and on the path to wealth. We must also do our level best to protect those who have jobs from being threatened by policies that can creep in and do away with some jobs.
