Climate porn intersects with Covid porn as China discovers new viruses in 15,000 years old ice

In other news, who is ready for ancient viruses recently discovered in ice samples in China?

“Scientists have found viruses nearly 15,000 years old in two ice samples taken from the Tibetan Plateau in China. Most of those viruses, which survived because they had remained frozen, are unlike any viruses that have been cataloged to date.” https://t.co/n0os20cxAM

Human society has proven to handle new viruses very well so I think we're gonna be fine https://t.co/abR2cQweFC

Oh, for sure. This is like having to touch a “wet paint” sign just to make sure, but the scientist version of that:

And they’re gonna defrost them, aren’t they? #IHateItHere https://t.co/TTIdVqicqM

We really are doomed as a species, aren’t we?

Some hipster bar “chef” in Los Angeles is going to make a Manhattan with this ice just to be obnoxiously avant-garde, then we all die. Great. https://t.co/LsPEEKlMuM

And here comes the combination of virus porn with climate porn for one perfect new narrative:

Oh great. So: climate crises x pandemics x #Bezos, #Branson and #Musk figuring out how to charge us all a lot of money to escape the Earth. It’s all starting to make sense…. https://t.co/Zy2D9f4JFh

Oh, yes, because that is the “REAL POINT”:

People are joking that this is how horror movies start, or responding that they should burn the viruses. But the REAL POINT is that we need to contemplate ALL the viruses that will be released as human-caused Climate Change melts the long-frozen parts of our world. #ClimateCrisis https://t.co/9RnNbxzoan
