The Moody College of Communications at the University of Texas at Austin announced a new journalism award named after disgraced former CBS News anchor Dan Rather that recognizes “collegiate and professional journalists who overcome obstacles like stonewalling and harassment to speak truth to power”:

No, really! They’re serious. From the dean of the college:
Dan Rather is not only a legend — he’s the namesake of new awards honoring his career and the work of today’s journalists. We are thrilled to announce the @DanRather Medals for News and Guts.https://t.co/XeFKkNXh0N pic.twitter.com/9R0v8D1945

What font did they use on the medals?
At least tell me the font on the medal is Times New Roman

Might we suggest a name change for these awards:
The Times New Roman Award For Excellence. https://t.co/cFigUYyjcE

Who knew there was a statute of limitations for fake news:
dan rather did in the 2004 presidential election what the Russians did in 2016 with Facebook memes.
except forged AWOL docs on "60 Minutes" >>> jesus arm-wrestling satan memes.
and now Rather has an "excellence in journalism" award named for him.

And this does say a lot about the state of academia today:
Lie in an attempt to influence a Presidential election and J schools will name a medal after you. This says it all about the state of J schools and journalism. https://t.co/v7V8U4D8fs

And it would be nice if Rather would just admit he was wrong one of these days:
Has Rather ever admitted that the Bush story was made up? Last quote I see on it is, "Nobody has proved that they were fraudulent, much less a forgery. … The truth of this story stands up to this day." https://t.co/NWgpA0sF65 https://t.co/cFigUYyjcE

We look forward to UT’s business school giving out an award to Al Sharpton next:
