Twitchy regular Alyssa Milano thinks the government doesn’t intrude into our lives enough yet and is proposing new regulations to cut down on toys are packaged:
We celebrated Milo & Bella’s Bdays yesterday. ?
They’re opening their sweet gifts.
I’m so struck by the amount of plastic/waste.
If we want to start chipping away at the damage we’ve done to the planet, we should start regulating the materials we use to make & package toys.

Of course, she can’t be criticized for this expansion in government power because that’s just mean:
The replies to this tweet from the trolls are disgusting. Great job showing your hatefulness, Trump Trolls! I will pray for you all tonight. To my God. The one that has empathy and compassion.

Why doesn’t she just buy toys that aren’t in this sort of crazy packaging?
Stop buying it, you need the government to regulate and tell you not to?! ??
— Stoned Coder™ (@StonedCoder) September 1, 2019
you weren't struck by that as you bought it?
— Sallie Hicks (@salliehicks25) September 1, 2019
Yet you still buy them…

Just when they open their gifts you are "struck by the amount of plastic"? You could have thought about that in advance. Rather than throwing a tantrum could have had an uplifting post about the companies that DO think about the environment. They do exist. If you care to look.

She had options:
You could have asked for donations in lieu of gifts to a charity and bought your kids an appropriate/eco-friendly gift.

Others have figured this out without new government regulations:
We do zero waste birthdays. Ask for no gifts and give no plastic toys or anything in plastic. Kids are bummed but it’s reality. In addition to climate we have a plastic crisis. People need to just stop consuming. Kids and adults will survive with less “stuff”
— Ian Cornell (@cornell_ian) September 1, 2019
And consider this birthday ruined:
We can now add birthday parties to the list of "Everything the Left Touches, it Ruins"
