CNN is already getting mocked for the debate format

This is hilarious. CNN is already getting mocked for the debate format before anyone even got asked a question:

Problem: Too many candidates, not enough time.

CNN Solution: Burn 10 minutes over-produced pageantry, immediately take a commercial break, kill another 12 minutes with needless opening statements, ask first actual question @ 8:23pm.

Other than that off to a great start.

I’m so glad I’m at a ballpark and not watching CNN pretend our democracy is a game

Debate going the full CNN: action-movie trailer, election-night bass 'n drums … now a color guard, national anthem, and don't forget opening statements.

I watched the opening of CNN’s debate and I’m now even dumber than I already was

We actually agree with Sally Kohn for once:

My theory is that CNN is making this opening of #DemDebate #DemocraticDebate extra long to remind us all that this election will also be interminable

Others compared it to the WWE:

Yes. We could have done without the WWE opening. https://t.co/cD7ce2EIHL

It took 25 minutes to get to the first question:

First question… 25 minutes in. CNN is bad at TV.

And the audio is out of sync for some folks:

@CNN @DNC @DNCWarRoom the sound and picture are milliseconds out of sync!!! Distracting!!! Why????

— Mimi Kennedy (@MimiKennedyLA) July 31, 2019

And don’t even think about trying to watch online:

Ok am already annoyed with @CNN's livestream. If you get kicked off, when you get back in, you get the same ad. #DemDebate

The candidates are finally answering questions, but they keep getting cut off for time. If only CNN didn’t waste the first 25 minutes. . .

Here's a wild idea: If @CNN eliminated the wasted 25 min at the top of the show, the candidates could finish speaking and give us complete answers. #DemocraticDebate
