Vox’s Aaron Rupar is pretty bent out of shape over this bit from President Trump last night on Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and his endorsement of later-term abortion earlier this month:
Holy shit — Trump falsely accuses Ralph Northam of saying he supports "a newborn baby [coming] out into the world, and wrap the baby, make the baby comfortable, & then talk to the mother & talk to the father and then execute the baby. Execute the baby!"
Huge, angry boos. pic.twitter.com/VZaZXVoi7Y

Except. . . what the president said was “almost quoting the governor word for word”:
.@maggieNYT Needs to explain to her readers why she retweeted this.
I'm sick and tired of the Press like @maggieNYT gaslighting.
Trump is almost quoting the governor word for word. https://t.co/TyfL6TZgrM

You see, now using exact quotes is problematic:
That’s literally what Ralph Northam endorsed almost word for word. There’s nothing “false” about that.
It is telling though how taken back you are by your fellow Democrat’s own words endorsing infanticide. ??♂️ https://t.co/nMPlKmlOzH

Here’s the exact quote:
“I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that's what the mother & family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physicians & the mother.”

It was even on video!
This is, exactly what Ralph Northam discussed. Don’t take my word for it, you can just watch: https://t.co/adgwAnxolt https://t.co/LkALebIVKC

More reaction from the blue-checks:
What the actual f**k? Is it even legal for the president to make such a statement? https://t.co/aDyITjUsJN

NO NO NO @realDonaldTrump – You do NOT get to talk about my patients and their families like this. You do NOT refer to palliative, hospice, and end of life care for infants with life limiting conditions as executions. These are MY families you are talking about. #hpm #pedpc #nicu https://t.co/lVHGz15WPI

Are you @realDonaldTrump saying I executed my baby at birth? I dare you to say that to my face.
How cruel to twist comfort care for jeers and boos. https://t.co/T6SobAR6hE— Jennifer Gunter (@DrJenGunter) February 12, 2019
This is a vile lie that puts doctors' lives in danger. https://t.co/gOAoywZq30

There is no logical reason to not impeach @realDonaldTrump. https://t.co/dkdcq6YQqn
— Judd Apatow (@JuddApatow) February 12, 2019
This is one of the most irresponsible things Trump has said as president. It is a complete lie, for one. It also sounds like the kind of rhetoric that regularly puts the lives of doctors, their staff, and their patients in danger. https://t.co/cvS6QVCHsM
— Jamil Smith (@JamilSmith) February 12, 2019
Like, how is it just totally legal for the President to holy rally’s where he just tells complete lies to rile up his base. He’s trying to start a civil war. https://t.co/VZwoScb6eF

This is terrible, false, and unthinkably cruel to stigmatize an already heartbreaking nightmare for many women. The misinformation around this issue is so purposeful, and it has nothing to do with preserving life and everything to preserving dominion and control https://t.co/n2Q1ozncwJ
