CNN interviewed experts on their various programs every night for the past two years telling us how President Trump’s policies, decisions, mean tweets and other comments will affect what happens today, election day.
But according to CNN’s Sarah Westwood, “no one knows what’s going to happen tonight”:
Folks, no one knows what's going to happen tonight. Rs could lose the House by 10+ seats. Rs could keep the House. Ds could lose 5+ Senate seats. And/or Ds could flip a couple of R Senate seats. The lesson of 2016: don't listen to anyone who says they know what will go down.

That’s a pretty stunning admission given that CNN’s experts never seem to say on air, “WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN.” After two years of analysis, we’re at ¯_(ツ)_/¯???
The Washington Post is embracing a similar philosophy in its coverage:
"EMBRACE NOT KNOWING:"
WaPo national editor @stevenjay has encouraged reporters and editors to "embrace not knowing" what will happen tonight… https://t.co/1wqDuIkSna

How many millions have been spent on polling and sending reporters to cover events and everything else and now they want readers and viewers to just discount all of that? Apparently so:
Sam Feist's team at CNN "has rehearsed 16 scenarios of what might happen" on midterm night.
Feist: "I have no idea what’s going to happen," but "we're ready for every outcome…" https://t.co/1wqDuIkSna

But they can’t help themselves. Embrace not knowing, but click on our articles that say we know what we’re talking about:
A lot of people look at 2016 and wonder if polls might again miss a quiet surge of conservative voters.
But maybe people should look at 2017 in Virginia and wonder if a Democratic surge isn't being fully captured. https://t.co/crr7p0TwDO

And:
“In dozens of battlegrounds, especially in politically essential suburban House districts, it’s the habitual nonvoters who control the margin,” @mffisher and @kristinegWP write. https://t.co/ZLRNr4HCj3
