CNN reporter interviews 11-year-old Honduran immigrant who explains how he was separated from his family (but there's a twist)

CNN’s Ed Lavandera tagged along with Border Patrol agents today when they apprehended two adults and four children who had illegally entered the United States. According to Lavandera, one of the moms was not aware of the policy that she would be separated from her children upon detention:

Lavandera then interviewed Jonathan, an 11-year-old from Honduras. He, too, was separated from his family. First by his mother who is in Virginia and next by his cousins who abandoned him along the way to the United States:

We would like to point out at this point that both the Obama and Trump administration imposed harsh policies on immigrants from Central America in the hope that families would not put their kids in danger with the false promise that they would be able to stay in America. You can hate the policies of both administrations all you want, but there was some method to the madness, so to speak.
