Olympian McKayla Maroney says she was molested by USA Gymnastics team doctor at age 13

Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney took to Twitter to accuse USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar of molesting her starting at age 13 under the guise of “medically necessary treatment.”

“For me, the scariest night of my life happened when I was 15 years old. I had flown all day and night with the team to get to Tokyo. He’d given me a sleeping pill for the flight, and the next thing I know, I was alone with him in this hotel room getting a ‘treatment.’ I thought I was going to die that night,” she wrote.

This really is an undercovered scandal. 140 women and girls have accused Nassar of sexual assault, yet there’s not much coverage of it:

You might remember McKayla from the funny face she made at the 2016 Olympics:

And with President Obama:

Fellow Olympian Aly Raisman accused USA Gymnastics of not doing enough in response to all of the accusations:

Nassar pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography and he is in prison awaiting trial on other charges as well as numerous civil suits from the gymnasts:

USA Gymnastics has already settled some of the cases with the victims:

With talks ongoing on the rest:
