During a town hall on CNN last night, Nancy Pelosi erroneously claimed that legislation on expanded background checks for gun purchases would have somehow stopped the Las Vegas massacre:
Q: What new law would stop something like this?
Pelosi: Background checks. #PelosiTownHall https://t.co/mrhwApq8qp https://t.co/1rziEQfXAK— CNN (@CNN) October 5, 2017
Note that CNN highlighted this particular bit of stupidity without noting that the Las Vegas gunman passed all background checks:
He asks specifically about the Vegas shooter. What law would have stopped him specifically
Pelosi says background check, which he passed. https://t.co/srRHssght5

Heckuva job, CNN:
Pelosi gets an hour unchallenged on CNN prime time to push gun control. Incredible.

And Paddock would have passed any local law, if implemented:

Pelosi could have talked about “bump stocks,” however, and at least sounded like she knew what she was talking about:
#LasVegas #shooting: Bump stocks, used by shooter Stephen Paddock, are selling out in American gun stores https://t.co/9DnykySYdG

Or maybe she omitted this on purpose because it was Obama’s ATF that approved them?
This is what Obama era ATF said about “bump-stocks” https://t.co/KhsBUtZsd8

And it looks like there will be some bipartisan support to get rid of them:
I'm for that too. But bump-fire stocks are indefensible. We control Congress, White House so we decide where it stops. https://t.co/C5hRNdQCRU
