Apparently there’s an Amtrak train that broke down somewhere between D.C. and New York and reporters are losing their sh*t over the inconvenience.
Maggie McGrath, Forbes:
@Amtrak train 161 was told 45 minutes ago that a "rescue train" was being located.. but no updates. How much longer will this take?

BuzzFeed’s Chris Geidner:
"At this time, we don't have any power. … We'll keep you up to date." – reports from the 161 @Amtrak

"Severe engine problems … rescue train … FML."

Rescue train is on its way. The whole train will be transferring through two doorways onto the new train, so, THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES. ??♂️

Update: I have made the transfer. I repeat, I have made the transfer. Others are still loading [Technical note: Is this still @Amtrak 161?]

Shadi Hamid, contributing editor to The Atlantic:
I'm not sure @amtrak should call the train coming to pick us up after our train lost power and had severe engine damage the "rescue train"

Dear @amtrak: can we start a movement in the USA to have okay trains that work reliably?

I feel like I'm at Fyre Festival

That said, on the bright side, the fact that the trains don't run on time is proof we're not living under a fascist government. That's good

Matt Flegnheimer, New York Times:
"Please do not touch both trains at the same time." Amtrak 161, awaiting rescue train somewhere near Wilmington, is confused by this advice.

Passengers also taking pics of each other "for the class action suit" because the northeast corridor is litigious. https://t.co/40U2GksqiM
