CNN’s Chris Cillizza had a major revelation on COVID-19 over the weekend and determined that he’s been fooling himself for the last 18 months:
I've been thinking a lot about why the latest surge has hit me so hard and I think it's because I have been fooling myself — to some extent — for the last 18 months 🧵

We won’t bore you with the whole thing, but the summary is Cillizza finally realizes that vaccines won’t prevent you from getting Covid:
Because the reality is — and has always been even if I didn't realize it — that the vaccines don't, really, prevent you from getting the virus. Or, at least, they don't guarantee it won't happen.

Welcome to the party, pal?
According to all the available data, it's doing its job (preventing serious illness and death among those infected). But it can never do what I had hoped: Ensure no one I loved will become infected.

This wouldn’t have happened if he had better news sources lol:
I think it’s because your news sources have failed to tell you the truth @ChrisCillizza Try the @nypost and @FoxNews 😉 https://t.co/EQBycGB0qL

And maybe he missed this segment on CNN?
🚨 CDC Director said today August 6th that “what they (Coronavirus vaccines) can׳t do anymore is prevent transmission.”
So… What’s the logic of treating the people vaccinated against COVID-19 better than those who are not vaccinated such as at NYC restaurants? cc @MarkLevineNYC pic.twitter.com/j0F03ASSro

Anyway, get to work:
My work now is getting used to that reality. I realize I am way behind lots of other people in doing that. But, you have to start somewhere.
— Chris Cillizza (@ChrisCillizza) December 17, 2021
But let’s not let Cillizzaa off the hook so easily. He has more explaining to do, especially since his false belief of zero Covid affected his on-air reporting:
Cool, glad you have faced some bit of reality. Now would be a good time to apologize to @GovRonDeSantis for your gleeful tweets about Florida's case numbers in the summer and your piece when you pushed him to mask 2yos and accused him of "politics" when he wouldn't. https://t.co/AZDOtNvIkA
— Karol Markowicz (@karol) December 19, 2021
Karol brought the receipts:
"So, uh, freedom? Or something?" was an actual line in this @ChrisCillizza piece from Aug where he tied unmasking kids to Florida's case rate. But now that it's NY being hit, Cillizza is ready to accept sanity. Great, welcome. Now apologize. https://t.co/xzC0maEhTU
— Karol Markowicz (@karol) December 19, 2021
And, we expect, this is all short-lived until Florida has the next outbreak:
He won’t apologize. He’ll switch to this rationale for the Northeast, and then switch back if Florida gets hit hard again. They all will.

It’s nice of Chris to give the rest of us a break from noting that he never has a clue what he’s talking about.

It’s just what the media does:
This is what they do each time. I can’t describe my contempt for them. https://t.co/6sAdVQ9Bml
