Just when they open their gifts you are "struck by the amount of plastic"? You could have thought about that in advance. Rather than throwing a tantrum could have had an uplifting post about the companies that DO think about the environment. They do exist. If you care to look.

We do zero waste birthdays. Ask for no gifts and give no plastic toys or anything in plastic. Kids are bummed but it’s reality. In addition to climate we have a plastic crisis. People need to just stop consuming. Kids and adults will survive with less “stuff”
