Is the modern Left in America worse than communism? According to Twitchy favorite Jesse Kelly, the answer is sadly, “yes”:
For too long the people on the Right (myself included) have called the American Left “socialists” or some brand of that. But it’s dawned on me they’re something else entirely and I can’t quite put my finger on it. Even the commies loved their country. This is something worse.

The commies didn’t want to flood their countries with illegal aliens and deport nobody. The commies would never have allowed government schools to encourage young children to question their gender. Or allowed a young boy to dress in drag and dance for men.

I can’t stop thinking about that Gallup poll showing only 22% of Democrats are proud of their country. Something has really shifted. It’s not UN-American. It is ANTI-American. That’s not communism. That’s an insurgency.

I’m not saying there isn’t serious overlap between what the old world socialists believed and what the modern Left believes. I’m just saying there’s now and added element to it of legit America hatred. And I can’t see how that ends well.
That’s all.

As you’d imagine, not everyone is on board with this but he did get a nod of support from the Washington Examiner’s Tiana Lowe:
Even commies understood that you can’t use a fixed capital base to give away free crap to an endlessly expanding pool of people. It’s why Bernie dodges the ICE question and why he can’t survive this even more economically illiterate iteration of intersectional leftism. https://t.co/1uNRhMm7dc

Absolutely correct.

More here:
Per your theory, which is absolutely spot on, I think part of it has to do it the fact that we are *already* the greatest nation on Earth. The Balkans were a disaster for half a century before communism. Russia was an authoritarian powder keg of populism. We’re…rich & happy 1/

As evil as Marxism was, it was still a thought experiment more than a national application. Those who adopted it genuinely believed they could make their countries fairer & better OR they could assert more power. Now we’ve stripped away all but “fairer” only to punish 2/

This is why AOC, Omar, etc. excuse raw glee at the thought of wealthy or working people having paid for their own schooling while letting middle class gender studies majors get their degrees for free. It’s all a punishment. It’s more Tito than Lenin /fin (I think)

Which, assuming you’re right, confirms my worst fears on them. It’s not as much communism as it is anti-nationalism. Complete hatred of one’s own country and the desire for its demise.
