Beloved actor and former U.S. Marine Gunnery Sgt. R. Lee Ermey was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery on Friday:

A Vietnam veteran, Ermey’s most memorable role was playing Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in Stanley Kubrick’s Vietnam War film “Full Metal Jacket”.

Although many only know of Ermey through his many roles on TV and the movies, he was an 11-year veteran who served in the Vietnam War:
