Over the weekend, another desperate, flailing attempt dropped from the dead legacy media, trying to lie to America about the quality of Democrat governance -- or lack thereof.
We're not sure why the media bothers with these 'reports' anymore, which are so obviously propaganda that they might as well publish them in a little red book.
But if they insist on trying, I will insist on laughing at them.
These are the 10 worst states to live in for 2026, according to CNBC.
— Complex (@Complex) July 12, 2026
1. Tennessee
2. Texas
3. Indiana
4. Louisiana
5. Georgia
6. Utah
7. Missouri
8. Alabama
9. Oklahoma

What? No Florida? This is an outrage!
Doesn't Ron DeSantis imprison people just for saying the word 'gay'? How could the Sunshine State not make the list?
Obviously, we know what CNBC is doing here. But just for some giggles, I took a look at the article from whence this hilarious tweet originated.
It's so much worse than I even thought.
According to CNBC, these are the criteria for measuring quality of life in the 50 states:
To score the states for quality of life, we use hard data on factors like crime rates, air quality and healthcare. We also consider the cost and availability of childcare, inclusiveness of state laws, and reproductive rights. Some states offer exemplary quality of life. But these ten states do not make the grade.
Ahh, hard data! I love hard data.
Even better is when the media distorts and mangles 'hard data' to serve an agenda.
For instance, CNBC cites the high crime rate in Tennessee as justification for giving the state an F grade. What they fail to note, however, is that if you steer clear of Memphis -- which, admittedly, is like a war zone but also, coincidentally, has been under one-party Democrat control basically since Reconstruction -- the rest of the state has a pretty low crime rate.
The same trick is pulled with Missouri and St. Louis, as well as Louisiana and New Orleans.
Even more ridiculous is CNBC's claim that many of the listed states are to be shunned because of their lack of 'inclusivity,' citing Tennessee's abandonment of 'pride' month, Louisiana's cancellation of DEI practices, and Georgia's 'few protections for LGBTQ+ people' as justifications for poor grades.
In other words, according to CNBC, if a state treats all of its citizens equally and refuses to elevate some of them with special privileges, that is a state no one should live in.
As for me, I happen to like EQUAL protection under the law. But maybe that's just me. Or, more accurately, me and our Founding Fathers.
With another metric, air quality, the fact that CNBC lists Utah as a failure, but not California or New Jersey, is all the justification anyone would need to mock them into oblivion.
I won't even start in the 'reproductive rights' metric. You know what that one means. CNBC only recommends states where people can kill babies on a whim, at any point, and for any reason. Any restrictions on that will earn you an F.
If CNBC wanted to be taken seriously, they should have named their report, 'Worst States for Indoctrinated Leftist Lunatics to Live In.'
At least that would have been accurate. If you are a climate cultist, gender or alphabet cultist, are in love with abortion, or are someone who believes the lies of 'systemic racism,' then it's true that you will not like living in these 10 states.
In fact, many of the people who live there would encourage you to stay away.
I totally agree…Tennessee is the worst!!
— Nick Freitas (@NickJFreitas) July 12, 2026
Please tell all of your woke leftist friends what a terrible place it is and that they should never move here under any circumstances.
Yep. Confirmed true. Tennessee is horrible. Never, EVER move here. https://t.co/E4jTgCouj5

CNBC nailed this list. Tennessee is THE WORST. You would HATE it here. Stay away! https://t.co/QiEdcdXiuY
— Clay Travis (@ClayTravis) July 13, 2026
According to CNBC, Texas is ranked the second worst state to live in.

I agree liberals. It’s completely terrible here. Don’t move here. https://t.co/goCm85XWnI pic.twitter.com/UfVkJat93a
Texas (and former TN) resident here.
— Josh Howerton (@howertonjosh) July 12, 2026
This list is COMPLETELY accurate and TOTALLY true.
In fact, the millions of people moving here from CA, NY, WA, and OR… a lot of people don’t know this, but their families and cities MADE THEM move here as punishments for past… https://t.co/fmapIfKi5f
HAHAHAHAHA!
Of course, that last post hits on the reality of what is happening in America, regardless of the leftist media's propaganda.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who was probably (and justly) deeply offended that his state was snubbed from the list, echoed this point.
If Tennessee was really the worst state to live in people wouldn’t be moving there in large numbers, which they are.
— Ron DeSantis (@RonDeSantis) July 12, 2026
Typical nonsense. https://t.co/jMlfMCb8sw
Yes, it is nonsense, but it also reveals the reason why CNBC published its tripe.
The mass exodus from deeply blue states to red states is not without consequences. According to even the most conservative estimates, red states will gain at least 10 Congressional seats after the 2030 census. Texas, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee are all expected to gain seats, while blue strongholds like California, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, and Oregon are all going to lose seats.
It's an impending disaster for the Democrat Party, and CNBC knows it.
To underscore that the list is not just politically biased, but an obvious attempt to influence Americans who are voting with their feet, and a pathetic attempt to reverse that trend, CNBC also published a best states to live in report.
I won't take a lot of time with that one, but Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Connecticut all made the list. And New Jersey was at the top of the list.
LOL.
All states that Americans are fleeing, particularly New Jersey, which has a town in Paterson that looks a lot more like Gaza than it does America. The mayor of Paterson -- I swear I am not making this up -- even called his city the capital of Palestine in the United States and the Mecca of New Jersey.
Sorry, CNBC. Nobody is moving there, no matter how much fake 'hard data' you cite.
At least no Americans are moving there.
As for me, sadly, I live in Virginia, a state which, OF COURSE, made CNBC's 'best states' list now that Democrats are in control, and Abigail Spanberger is approving every tax hike she can come up with, trying to remove Virginians' Second Amendment rights, and embracing illegals over her own citizens.
But before I consider moving to Texas, Tennessee, or any of those other awful places CNBC warned me against, there's a simple proposal that would instantly make CNBC reconsider and recategorize Virginia as the absolute worst:
Make Washington, DC, square again.
Sigh ... if only.
