Vindicated! Bret Baier Did His Job and He Did It Well

Fox News

I wrote the other day about the three questions I wanted Bret Baier to ask Kamala Harris.

First, I wanted Harris to be asked why Biden dropped out of the race. Baier came close when he pressed the Vice President on Biden's mental faculties:

You told many interviewers that Joe Biden was on his game, that ran around circles on his staff. When did you first notice that President Biden's mental faculties appeared diminished?

Harris made a weak attempt to, once again, say Biden is fine and then attempted to divert the line of questioning into 'Joe Biden is not on the ballot.'

No, but he is still in the Oval Office and his Vice President won't give a clear answer on his ability to serve or explain why he was ousted.

Next, I wanted Baier to ask about Harris's flip-flops on past policy positions, such as fracking. He didn't name fracking explicitly, but he did ask about her past positions on issues like driver's licenses, free tuition, free healthcare, and taxpayer-funded sex change operations for illegal immigrants.

'Do you still support those things?' Baier asked.

'I will follow the law.'

What a horrible answer. Clearly, she still supports those things. She simply says the things she believes she needs to say to win the election.

Finally, I hoped Baier would ask about the recent plagiarism accusations. He didn't touch that one.

He came close enough for me on the first two questions, and Harris's answers were as bad … maybe worse … than I expected. Still, I would have loved to see her try to dance around the plagiarism question.

Possibly, he simply ran out of time to ask more tough questions.

I would have tried to get her out too. It was a disaster.

It was easy to guess that Baier would ask many policy questions, such as about border security. He led with that one, and it was devastating for Harris.

I also predicted he would deliver a professional and fair interview and press Harris to answer when she dodged his questions. He did.

I did not expect him to fact-check Harris in real-time, but he did exactly that on multiple occasions.

I had reasonable confidence Baier would do a good job, but he gave a tougher interview than even I expected.

He definitely exceeded the expectations of many of his detractors.

While some on the Left are already claiming the interview was unfair, it's a hard case to make against Bret Baier, especially in light of the hostile media situations Trump and Vance find themselves in daily.

He gave her more than she could handle, and we're left believing she really can't handle that much.

President Trump was one of Baier's biggest critics before the interview.

What more evidence do we need that Baier was up to the task of giving a 'fair and balanced' interview?

And when Kamala Harris is not being coddled - is allowed to answer tough questions with no script - she loses. Every time.
