CNBC's Joe Kernen Delivered Some Brutal Trade War Reality Checks to Canada's Ex- Deputy PM

As we told you yesterday, there was an attempted flex from the Globe and Mail that quickly imploded after the media outlet reported where Canada is winning over new fans because of the "trade war" with Trump and the U.S.:

Don't look now, but the Globe and Mail is kind of making Trump's point for him. 

Up next is former Canadian Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, who was on CNBC's "Squawk Box" with Joe Kernen. The host mentioned the China connection and other issues. Things got awkward quickly. Watch:
