Yesterday President Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have signed off on the first phase of a peace deal:

For some in the media, that means it's time for some Nobel Peace Prize talk!
Except ABC News just showed that some of the Peace Prize talk won't necessarily be about Trump:
ON THIS DAY: In 2009, President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize for what the Norwegian Nobel Committee called “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” https://t.co/Qhee1yww52 pic.twitter.com/1U78J1mPnL

Obama won the prize for no actual accomplishment on that front in particular but he sure did talk a lot so that was enough for the committee:
How embarrassing was this. Still is. https://t.co/cXxXyzCqdH

Yep, thanks for the reminder, ABC News!
And thus was the day the Norwegian Nobel Committee became an absolute joke

Yes, and that’s the same look we all had on our faces at the time.

If ABC was trying to make a point, they succeeded, just not in the way they no doubt intended:
Thanks for the reminder about why Trump deserves it by COB today. https://t.co/YAbSKbCdp6

Here's the Nobel Committee trying to keep themselves from giving Trump the Peace Prize:
That's probably not far off what's actually going to happen.
Look, if Obama got a Nobel Peace Prize for simply getting elected (and then never actually earned it), Trump deserves it for his work over the previous term with the Abraham Accords and now with this.

He deserves it more than anyone in the last 40 years.
The Committee has a chance to try and redeem what they've turned the Peace Prize into, but will they?
