The "automatically taking the opposite side of any issue just because Trump is for or against it" thing the Democrats have been doing continues to backfire. So far Trump's gotten the libs to come out in favor of violent crime, against the deportation of criminal illegal aliens, and lots more.
However, some Dems know that's been going badly for them, and as a result some are actually admitting that, when it comes to Trump federalizing DC law enforcement, things have actually improved:

California Gov. Gavin Newsom's also been critical of Trump and has said that his state does not have a crime problem.
Then at some point Newsom might have looked at some internal polling on the issue, and the hair gel aficionado who will almost certainly be running for the Democrat nomination in 2028 cranked up crime fighting efforts in his state:

However, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker isn't going to stop pretending Chicago is perfectly safe just because Trump has been pointing out the obvious about big cities run by Democrats.
Pritzker said recently that they're succeeding at fighting violent crime in Chicago and Trump's help is not needed or welcomed:

One of these things is not like the other, Gov. Pritzker! But the Dems would appreciate it if everybody would think news like this isn't proof that Chicago's gun control laws don't work, but rather that it's evidence that people from red states are bringing guns into the city.
Governor Pritzker boasted that this was a major improvement over last weekend when 36 people were shot and 6 died.
