Everybody remembers the collective journo triggering when Donald Trump was president and called out the "fake news" media. Heck, CNN's Jim Acosta even got a book out of it.
But times have changed, meaning the media has been carrying some heavy water these past three years. The Associated Press has been leading the way with takes like this:
Biden goes into 2024 with the economy getting stronger, but voters feel horrible about it https://t.co/lQVpzLbNsN

In spite of the media working hard to help the Biden administration put a positive spin on the train wrecks they've created, the president has been scolding the press for not reporting things "the right way" while his approval continues to plummet.
Now the White House is reportedly taking things up a notch and trying to secure meetings with reporters to personally hand them marching orders:
.@maxwelltani reports that the Biden team has a spreadsheet for meetings with reporters detailing where they think their reporting has fallen short.

The meeting with the NYT didn’t seem to go well. https://t.co/jlg5ECp4gF pic.twitter.com/qCI7ozL9WH
Even though most of the media are in Biden's pocket, the White House wants them to dial up the gaslighting.

Democrat privilege includes having corporate media 1000% in your pocket and being able to demand they turn up the propaganda even more. This is almost comical. pic.twitter.com/v3fEt5JE72

The DC press is to a large degree already at "North Korean State Media" levels of propaganda, but it's not enough for Team Biden.
I prefer to not have presidents dictate to me how to report on topics, thanks.

Goes to show, sadly, many in the press — those who clap like seals and echo his agenda—are basically an extension of the Biden comms team. https://t.co/He2FS7mkOV
How many journos end up taking their marching orders and running with them remains to be seen, but it will likely be the majority of reporters that agree to meet with Biden's people.
Sounds like a threat to democracy.

If Trump was still in office and ordering reporters to gaslight the public CNN would already have an hour-long special on how the free press is being threatened by an authoritarian. Instead, when Biden tells the media to jump most of them will respond, "how high?"
My favorite part of a press full of brave firefighters standing up for democracy and opposing dictators is taking orders from the top on how to report on Dear Leader https://t.co/1DOX2tkCt5

Any reporter that tells the Biden White House where to stick their marching orders will earn praise. Will any actually do that?
