Yesterday, Democrat New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham decided she could override the Constitution because she has spotted an "emergency" situation in her state:
Today I issued a 30-day ban on the open & concealed carrying of guns in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. Gun violence is killing between 2 and 3 children every month in NM - every single one of these deaths is unconscionable and they must stop. https://t.co/KJdXUMBVaG

I abhor the term "gun violence" because it implies nobody pulled the trigger and that pesky firearm just went off all by itself because Republicans support the 2nd Amendment.
In any case, back to New Mexico's ruling monarch:

Grisham also said that, hey, maybe people who followed the law and are carrying legally should be arrested too:

But Democrats like Grisham want everybody to believe Republicans are the "wannabe authoritarians" and "threats to democracy" who would shred the Consitution if given the chance. Talk about projection!
Also, local law enforcement officials are saying they won't enforce this edict because it's not constitutional:
Lujan Grisham said state police would be responsible for enforcing what amount to civil violations. Albuquerque police Chief Harold Medina said he won’t enforce it, and Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen said he’s uneasy about it because it raises too many questions about constitutional rights.
This made me curious about something so I did a quick search.
As it turns out, some unilateral emergency declarations are more unconstitutional than others:

Well, there it is!
One of these things is not like the other...
2019:
The president’s absurd and dangerous “emergency” declaration is a bald-faced end run around Congress and the basic tenets of our nation’s system of governance. New Mexico will not stand for this, and we will sue President Trump over his overreaching and inappropriate action.

Grisham's emergency edict is a constitutional violation, and Trump's emergency declaration was about increasing border security (the last time I checked there's no constitutional right to illegally enter the U.S., though most Democrats appear to want it that way).
