Under the Biden administration, a great deal of the work when it comes to policing and attempting to secure the border falls onto states like Texas:
The State of #Texas is taking historic action under Gov. @GregAbbott_TX’s Operation Lone Star to secure the border. Installation of the marine barrier began today in #EaglePass. Once in the country illegally and released, a huge percentage aren't seen again:
NEW: According to data submitted in federal court by DHS, out of a group of 2,572 illegal immigrants caught and released into the U.S. in days before end of Title 42, over 40% never checked in w/ ICE, and ICE failed to issue court summons to over 80%. https://t.co/VyrOaZKxAK

In the meantime, what is Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas bragging about? How he's eliminated the use of certain terms:

Mayorkas won't allow the use of the term "illegal aliens"? The border feels more secure already!
Frankly I'm a little surprised Mayorkas is even going with "non-citizen" -- I was expecting something like "honorary American" or "citizen-in-waiting."

We can see what his priorities have been.

Of course, Mayorkas is well aware that his job isn't what you or I would say it should be.
He was hired to do exactly what he’s doing
