Does Politico's spin for the Bidens against bribery & money laundering allegations sound familiar?

All of our readers remember the infamous October 2020 story about a letter signed by over 50 former intelligence officials (and we now know current intel officials took part in circulating the letter) saying stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop and its contents were likely part of a Russian disinformation campaign. Politico was all over it:

You know what happened next (and the above story still hasn’t been updated). The “Russian disinformation” letter was, ironically, basically part of a Russian-style disinformation campaign to give Joe Biden something to cite during a presidential debate when the subject of his son’s laptop arose.

That brings us to the House Oversight Committee Republicans’ press conference yesterday where alleged Biden family involvement in money laundering and bribery schemes were outlined:

However, the media and others have a spin at the ready to defend the Bidens, and this is it:

These Oversight Republicans might be spreading Russian misinformation? This sure sounds familiar:

Comer wrote in a letter to Wray accompanying the subpoena that his ongoing investigation would “inform potential legislative solutions that the Committee is exploring,” including the financial disclosures required by presidents, vice presidents and their family members.

The GOP volley is all but guaranteed to spark fierce pushback and skepticism. Comer and Grassley have both spearheaded long-running Biden investigations: Grassley and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) investigated Hunter Biden in the leadup to the 2020 election, drawing charges from Democrats and even warnings from some fellow Republicans that they were at risk of spreading Russian misinformation.

Hey, that excuse worked the first time so of course they’ll just keep going back to that particular well.

It’s “D”ifferent for Biden. Imagine Biden’s approval rating if we had an honest and investigative media.
