Now that the Republicans control the House of Representatives by a fairly slim margin, Democrats are starting to get a taste of their own medicine and they’re not liking it. Here’s the latest:
The House is preparing to vote on a resolution to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) from the Foreign Affairs Committee as soon as Wednesday after Republicans found a way to bring a key GOP holdout on board.
Why it matters: House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) looks to be on the cusp of avoiding another destabilizing defeat just weeks after his speaker election went to a historic 15 ballots.
The Democrat triggering continued today after GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz called for an amendment to require the recitation of The Pledge of Allegiance before House Judiciary Committee meetings, and the Dems fought against it for quite a while:
Would you believe me if I said the first half hour of our @JudiciaryGOP hearing has been wasted because Democrats oppose saying the pledge of allegiance?

Actually yes, I would totally believe that.
Of all the things to find objectionable leave it to the Democrats to get the most offended by this proposal:
I just introduced an amendment in the House Judiciary Committee to recite the Pledge of Allegiance before every meeting.
This is common sense. Why does patriotism make Democrats so heated? pic.twitter.com/Jl8E67vQdp

Dem Rep. Jerrold Nadler was among those objecting:
Unbelievable. @RepJerryNadler just said he opposes @RepMattGaetz's offer to say the PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE before Judiciary Committee meetings. pic.twitter.com/ynaw3Wqoz6

If the Republicans would have called for everybody to sing Ukraine’s National Anthem I’m guessing there would have been zero objection.
