We saw plenty of hyperbole and exaggeration on the second anniversary of the January 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol, and of course the media also got in on the action.
CNN’s Jake Tapper said that the “American experiment” was in jeopardy due to all the people who entered the Capitol that day (video via Grabien News founder Tom Elliott):

It can be confusing. In one breath we’re told that citizens would need nukes to overthrow the government, and in the next breath some of those same people want everybody to believe that America was almost overthrown by a bunch of unarmed protesters who trespassed into the U.S. Capitol Building.
Is this just gonna be a thing we do every year now? Lie?

Yeah, probably.
1/6 was bad enough without lying about it, @jaketapper. https://t.co/ZaXGiQbzVb

And yet Dems, the media and some others wonder why more people won’t get on board with this kind of narrative when they stretch the truth in such a manner.

Anybody dishing “we came so close to losing our democracy” takes is automatically a liar and a fraud. I mean honestly how stupid https://t.co/wunAbjYPDY

The “worst thing since the Civil War” crowd is obviously CNN’s target audience for this kind of reporting.
