After somebody inside the Supreme Court leaked a draft opinion indicating the very real possibility that Roe v. Wade would be overturned, the waiting began:
Awaiting the “conservative case for not overturning Roe v. Wade” after all from all the usual bad actors

Almost right away, the Principled Conservatives™ at The Lincoln Project came out in defense of Roe v. Wade.
Next up to make the conservative case for not overturning Roe v. Wade is the New York Times’ Bret Stephens:
Truly, it must be read to be believed.
Bret Stephens actually went ahead and wrote "The Conservative Case For Not Overturning Roe v Wade."https://t.co/5AULuIlM9q pic.twitter.com/UvMlAxkwRD

I'm genuinely grateful for this.
Bret Stephens's risible argument against overturning Roe is just a really clear example of the gaslighting we're subject to on every political controversy under the sun, especially "culture war" issues.
This is, as they say, a teachable moment.

It definitely depends on what your definition of “conservative” is.
He's affirming and actually encouraging more egregious leaks…truly reprehensible… pic.twitter.com/c6mhkea2eB

Wow, this is a “conservative” doozy:
The fact that the draft of Justice Alito’s decision was leaked — which Chief Justice Roberts rightly described as an “egregious breach” of trust — is a foretaste of the kind of guerrilla warfare the court should expect going forward. And not just on abortion: A court that betrays the trust of Americans on an issue that affects so many, so personally, will lose their trust on every other issue as well.
The word “conservative” encompasses many ideas and habits, none more important than prudence. Justices: Be prudent.
So conservative justices shouldn’t do conservative things because this particular “guerrilla warfare” leaking could worsen? Maybe just punish the leaker(s) so it doesn’t continue.
Tell me again why I shouldn't view "conservatives" like Stephens with the utmost contempt. And then tell me again why you were surprised why Trump happened. https://t.co/ZvDMI1Cug1

It’s a total mystery (cue eye roll).
The pre-Trump GOP is how you got Trump, and this is just more evidence of that.
Fed up with the Washington Generals of Punditry and their “cases” for continuing to secede the political fight to the radical left. https://t.co/fw6OB081dH

“Don’t fight back so hard against the Left to get them to stop with the leftist tactics” doesn’t seem to be a bold strategy.
