Former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is saying that many retail jobs that have been lost will not return, but he’s got good news for the affected workers: The government will retrain them, and Emanuel named one of the jobs that would be an option:
On ABC, Rahm Emanuel literally says a Biden White House should tell people laid off from retail stores like JC Penney to learn to code.
He actually said this. Amazing. pic.twitter.com/xlSnVi7445

"There's going to be people like at JC Penney and other retail, those jobs are not coming back. Give them the tools, six monthsm you're going to become a computer coder, we'll pay for it and you'll get millions of people to sign up for it."

That sure sounds familiar, for more than one reason.
People were locked and timed out on this platform for saying this to journalists but it's good enough for retail workers ? https://t.co/jaL9Hioxg5

How many computer programmers do they think we need?
The good news for devs though is that this will hyper saturate the market and turn coding into a minimum wage job https://t.co/Ytt7obtbSz

Because the Democrats care more, darnit!
Didn't Twitter ban #LearnToCode or something a while back? https://t.co/W6U8fsnFiv

I was told that this was abusive language, suitable for having you banned from social media circles. https://t.co/XJ0Zz8jjeM

There’s another part of Emanuel’s comments that sound familiar:
"Those jobs aren't coming back" is back! https://t.co/DeAsJsS9at

Barack Obama will be so proud of his former chief of staff!
