Some media outlets, including The Washington Post’s fact-checker, have made it clear they won’t be reporting the New York Post’s story about leaked emails that purport to show Hunter Biden leveraging his father’s position at the time to make more money from Burisma until the story is further vetted.
New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman raised some ire from the Left for even mentioning the NY Post’s report:
“…both the computer and hard drive were seized by the FBI in December, after the shop’s owner says he alerted the feds to their existence.” https://t.co/VggHCJKKI9

Perhaps Haberman was trying to alleviate some of the original blowback by making the following claim about the story:
Random store owner has it, copies it (a crime) and gives it to the president’s lawyer while also responding to a federal subpoena? A bit odd. https://t.co/KKECYxBRcE

The media “rules” sure do change fast:
NYT reporter whose paper just published Trump's leaked tax docs (a crime), questions sourcing of story on Biden.

Irony alert!
Your boss said he was willing to go to jail to publish Trump's tax returns … but now you are upset b/c some schulub copier a hard drive?
Some of us paid attention in class, Mags. https://t.co/3zpxSudkpG https://t.co/ZZP9KrnHpE

Do what as the NY Times says, not as they do!
Said owner of laptop dropped it off for repairs and never came back. Abandoned property.

NOT a crime, Mags!
"Abandoned property" after 90 days. Signer agreed to that. The repair shop OWNS it now. pic.twitter.com/ftgJDx78sY— Sandy 〽️ (@RightGlockMom) October 14, 2020
Notice how Haberman is already doing damage control for the Biden campaign. https://t.co/J88YBxdnaF

Many in the media will do whatever is necessary (with help from social media outlets) to keep the story buried as long as possible.
