'Aaaand he's done': Did Emmanuel Macron pick a LOUSY time to 'channel Jimmy Carter'?

Emmanuel Macron addressed the riots and protest in France today in part by making some announcements, and one of which was to encourage companies to hand out year-end bonuses:

Macron pushing back hard against "president of the rich" image. Announces "social and economic state of emergency", trails reforms to boost salaries, a crackdown on tax loopholes and a tax-free end of year bonus for all employees. Stick broken, it's carrot time.

Macron also tried to diagnose the root cause of France’s problems with something that might sound kind of familiar:
