With all the accusations, smears and general lunacy the libs have thrown around when it comes to the SCOTUS nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, here’s a question:
I honestly don't know what's in it for Republicans in continuing to back Kavanaugh.
He withdraws, Trump appoints Kethledge, Hardiman, or Coney Barrett instead, and they confirm in the lame duck anyway. Plus that way they don't smear a sexual assault accuser.

Why haven’t Republicans caved into all the freakouts about Kavanaugh? Anybody want to help answer that?
“Dirty lies should be politically rewarded.”
That’s what your hacktastic ass just said. And everyone knows it. https://t.co/LGRakB6tnZ

How about the principle of not falsely accusing a good man of sexual assault.
How about that standard. https://t.co/BbBrmXEAQ9

Probably because an 'accuser' has not been produced. The FBI doesn't think it's worth investigating and cow-towing to an 11th hour political hit job in the form of an unsubstantiated anonymous letter would be absurd

Defending a good man from bullshit is a worthwhile endeavor in & of itself. https://t.co/RBCyrRTiyZ

The GOP could appoint a clone of Ruth Bader Ginsburg & the Democrats will say she was the Golden State Killer. I'm afraid the gloves are off & the Dems took them off long ago. https://t.co/wfotpBJgJW

The problem is that the left will be emboldened to do the exact same thing to ANYONE that any GOP POTUS nominates. Any anonymous person can dream up literally anything and get away with it. This is a classic smear and the only way to do with it is to refuse to fall into the trap. https://t.co/0avSFWsmV9

And look who’s got a problem with “smears” now:
Look who’s suddenly so deeply concerned about “smearing” now. The anonymous, non-verified, insulated accuser isn’t the victim — the man who’s up for the biggest job of his life and is facing anonymous accusations from 40 years ago with no way to defend himself is the victim.

Unless the accuser comes forward, it is the accusation that is the smear.

Self-awareness isn’t a progressive strong suit.
